I received a request concerning the prerequisites for this workshop. Maybe this Information is also useful for others so I'm publishing it here:
On the 8th of May 2016 Queenie Lei wrote: I am extremely interested in your forthcoming course in ICS Hungary about stoneware glaze and super E. However, I don't have any experience in glaze and don't have the kiln yet . Of course, my plan is to own a kiln and can do work on the glaze in future and therefore it is the motive for me to join your course.
My question is am I a right candidate for your course considering of my inexperience in glaze and kiln.
My answer was:
in this workshop I'm teaching the combined usage of volumetric blends and glaze calculation software. These are just tools that can be used to explore glazes. It is my own experience that those tools accelerate the learning speed dramatically. So to employ those tools right from the start seems to be a good idea. Of course: Learning about glazes is more a life-long process than something that ins done once and then finished. But with these tools you will come further.
So I think the willingness to use a computer for exploring glazes as well as an open mind are more important for this workshop than having experiences with glazes and firing.
And: This workshop is providing hands-on-experiences with glazes and firings which might be a good starting point to collect your own experiences.
So to answer your question is: Yes.
